"Keep Calm and Stay Drug Free"

 

Mon: “Band Against Drugs and Bullying”…Wear any color bandanas.

       1st hour- Receive “Keep Calm and Stay Drug Free” bracelet to wear all week!

- Receive 5 Post-it Notes to spread kindness throughout the week (Give 1 positive note a day to someone, include your name, hand it in person not during class-time.)

Lunch- Dress Up Day Raffle for students who dressed in the day’s theme

Door Decorating contest for 8th hour. Theme: “Keep Calm & Stay Drug Free”

End of Day- Raffle Winners Announced

 

Tues: “Orange You Glad You’re Safe and Drug Free?”….

         Wear orange and/or camouflage.

         Lunch- Dress Up Day Raffle

           Spread kindness with 2nd post-it note, and continue 8th hour Door Decorating

           End of Day- Raffle Winners Announced

 

Wed: “Own Your Future!”…Wear college clothes or dress up in a

         future career you dream of having. (Staff: wear college gear.)

         Lunch- Dress Up Day Raffle and Red Item Guess Jar

           Spread kindness with 3rd post-it note, and continue 8th hour Door Decorating

           End of Day- Raffle Winners Announced

 

Thurs: “I’m a Jean-ius—I’m Drug Free!”…Wear Denim Day!

       Lunch- Dress Up Day Raffle

           Spread kindness with 4th post-it note, and continue 8th hour Door Decorating

           End of Day- Raffle Winners Announced

 

Fri: “Tough Enough to Wear Red”…Wear red and have your running  

        shoes on for the Red Ribbon Run!

         Lunch- Dress Up Day Raffle continues

           Spread kindness with 5th and final post-it note.

           1:30-2:15- Red Ribbon Run! All students run/walk 1.1 miles outside!

           2:20-3:20- 8th Grade vs. Faculty Basketball Game!

-       Final Raffle winners announced/Red Guess Jars Winners announced.

-       Winning class for door decorating announced.

 

 

Other activities:

-       Students get the opportunity to sign the “Take a Stand Against Bullying” banner with school counselor, Mrs. Carlson.

-       Students create posters related to how they personally “Keep Calm and Stay Drug Free” in art class with Ms. Heiring.

-       Students research and write essays on healthy choices related to staying drug/alcohol and bully free in Mrs. Jones’ 6th grade classes.

-       Students continue unit on Drugs/Alcohol in Mrs. Converse’s Healthy Choices class.

-       And more!

Be Safe, Stay Calm, and Stay Drug Free

 

Red necklace day: Each student will receive a red bead necklace to wear all week. Students are to keep their necklace at school to wear during the week. They may take them home after Friday. Six bandanas will be given away in a raffle, one per grade. All students have a chance to win. Classes will take turns signing the anti-bully pledge banner in the main hallway area.

Band together; respect yourself and others by making good choices

 

Students and staff are encouraged to wear a headband, bandana, or wristband to show support for respectful behavior. Teachers may have their class make their own “headband” One class will win reflective Bulldog Paws stickers, enough for each student if any one person in the class wears the theme clothing or their red necklace.

Guess who’s safe, respectful, responsible and drug-free.

 

Guess jar day. There will be a candy guess jar for Jk-1 and another for 2nd grade through 3rd grade. All students in 2nd and third grade get one guess each, while the Jk-1st grade jar will be one guess per class.

Sports, art, music, and playing a game are all safer choices than smoking, alcohol, or illegal drugs.

 

Students and staff are encouraged to wear music, art, or sports team apparel. Students wearing clothes fitting the theme are entered in a drawing for a number of prizes related to sports, art, music, or playing card games.

 

Friday, October 24, 2014

 

Bulldogs are a guiding light for each other. Take responsibility by keeping yourself and others safe.

 

Students are encouraged to wear bulldogs, blue, or gold clothing along with their red necklace. Those who do are entered in a drawing for special prizes including a miniature LED camping lantern.
